Remember when they told you the names were coming? Remember when the Attorney General of the United States stood in front of cameras and said an Epstein "client list" was sitting right there on her desk? Remember the binders — the ones labeled "The Epstein Files: Phase 1" — handed out to conservative influencers at the White House like party favors while survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's sex-trafficking operation sat at home watching it all unfold on television?
You were promised answers. You were promised names. You were promised that this administration — unlike every one that came before it — would finally rip the lid off the most protected secret in Washington and show the world who was on that list.
Eighteen months later, there is no list. The Justice Department says there's no evidence one ever existed. And last Wednesday, Vice President JD Vance sat across from Joe Rogan and said out loud what the administration spent a year and a half pretending wasn't true:
"We absolutely screwed up."
Three words from the second most powerful man in the country. Three words that confirm what millions of Americans — the people who voted for this president specifically because he promised Epstein transparency — have suspected for months: they were played.
Not by a shadowy deep-state conspiracy. Not by Democrats. Not by the media. By the very people who stood on stages and swore they'd be different.
